A bonsai can represent, according to who created it, either an age-old tree or a young one, a wood or a little group of trees; the plant’s real age has no importance because
its value is given by the bonsaist’s skill to express a certain idea.

In China and Japan where there are bonsais dating back hundreds of years the valuation methods can change according to its age that is usually reckoned from the beginning of the plant’s transformation into a bonsai. |

Our eyes should be at the level of a third of the tree’s trunk, so, if necessary, we should lower ourselves a little to find the right position to look at it; |

having been grown for many years only from this perspective, it will show it’s worth mostly in that precise spot,
allowing the observer the chance to fully enjoy its beauty. |
